Burning Questions

Jen @ Stay-at-home motherdom offered to write some personalized Questions for me to answer on my blog and I was curious as to the burning questions someone might ask me based on what she has seen on my blog……..this is what she came up with…..I have to say she came up with some really interesting and deep questions….I love it…..

1) Have you ever experienced what you would call a miracle (and/or something extraordinary that maybe “an outsider” might not see as miraculous)? What was it and why do you think God had a hand in it?

Yes I have experienced several miracles……some might not see it as such but I sure do…..Both of my children are miracles….both had allot of problems when they were born…..Brandon had a thyroid disorder…..the cord was wrapped around his neck and there was something wrong with my placenta……so he was actually malnourished when he was born. Cassandra was born @ 34 weeks by a planned C – section that was misread…..so basically she was born about 4 – 5 weeks to early and her lungs where not fully developed…..she had allot of problems breathing for the first 5 days……..
The second miracle that I have experienced is when I went into the prophetic rooms at the Kansas City House of prayer…….I really didn’t know what to expect being raised in a very conservative Christian home. I sitting in the room and this family just started to pray….and then the words came from each of them that could have only come from God because no one there knew what I was going through……it was like God just sat down right next to me and put His arms around my shoulders and showed me specifically the calling He has on my life……It still gives me shivers……..
God had and still has His hand on my life………all of the difficulties I experience with having my kids where meant to help me appreciate what I have……..I never thought I would ever have children,(by choice) and then God gave me 2…..I believe He allowed that to keep me humble….kids tend to do that to you…..when I went to Kansas City I really needed a touch from God….I was burnt out and needed some affirmation…..and he continues to use that to remind me that He is in Control……..hence the name of my blog.

2) What does it mean, in your opinion, to “be born again”? Is it a formality like saying “the sinner’s prayer” or can it be different for different people?

Ok this brings up a great subject…..Being Born again is definitely a one time experience where you come to a place in your life where you realise that you cannot do things on your own and that you need a savior, and that you need forgiveness from the sin in your life, however, that usually looks different for each person……it’s never usually that cut and dried and even though the sinner’s prayer is great……you don’t have to say those exact words to ask God to come into your life. I also believe that being “born again” is also a continual experience……it’s a daily choice to release control to God and let Him have a say in your day……There are so many verses that lead me to say this so I will just name a few….

Phil 2:12& 13 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Colossians 3:5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

So in conclusion….Salvation is a one time decision with a lifetime of daily choices that keep us following HIM….and that will looks different for everyone.
3) What has been the most influential book in your life?
The Bible definitely….it’s amazing how you can read the same scripture over and over and one day some new revelation comes from God from those same scriptures….I love that about the Bible……..next to that “Extravagant Worship by Darlene Zschech……

4) Describe the best vacation you have ever taken and the one vacation you would love to take if finances weren’t an issue.

The Best vacation we have ever taken was when we as a family went to Bolivia to visit my sister and her family…My sister and her husband are missionaries and for us it was a great experience to see what they did from day to day plus it was a great lesson for our children because they had never seen real poverty before……..We spent our Christmas collecting food and toys and gave them to this family of 7 who lived in a mud hut the size of my living room…….the kids still talk about it to this day…..
If finances were not an issue we would spend a month travelling from Australia to New Zealand to Fiji……….that is my dream trip……and we are collecting air miles and hopefully by next year we can pay for a good portion of our flights with Air miles……Barry and I have never had a honeymoon so we hope to take our dream trip in the next 2 years but probably not for a month.
5) What is the secret of life?
Wow…….that is a great question and I really had to think about it. I think the secret to life is that there are no coincidences, God designed us for His pleasure and is continually working in our lives to bring into a closer relationship with Himself, and we naturally fight that because of our sinful nature but when we set aside our sinful nature and choose to follow Him our reward is PEACE.
Thanks for the questions Jen!
If anything is unclear please feel free to email me!

  1. Wow…that’s some deep stuff. Great answers, Crystal. I especially liked the one about your kids learning about poverty. I just wrote a post about my life as an MK. I think that’s great stuff.

  2. Great answers…and ironically, those three scriptures were important in my life this week and I happened to read all three in the last couple days before reading them again on your blog.

Talk about no coincidences and God typing out the questions to you through my hands….
